Suikerbekkie Kleuterskool are long-standing Bolivia Lodge clients. Their most recent event took place on a beautiful Spring evening in our Ivory Hall.
This Saturday, Bolivia Lodge welcomed Louise Jansen - Cancer Survivor and founder of 'I can Fight' - and 100 delegates to Polokwane's first "Knowledge Saves Lives BREAST CANCER CONFERENCE." Bolivia Lodge and Old Mutual sponsored the event.
Dr. M.A. Coccia-Portugal, who has attended and presented at various international Breast Cancer Conferences and Forums, was the guests speaker.
October is National Breast cancer Awareness Month!
Did you know that this disease affects 1 in 8 women during their lives?
'i CAN Fight' together with Bolivia Lodge and Old Mutual is hosting a One Day Breast cancer Conference this Saturday, October 10th.
Why not buy a ticket for only R70 (light lunch included). It might help save your life one day!!!! (Ladies and Gents are welcome because men can get breast cancer too.) Contact Louise at 082 820 1949 for details. Or Sue at 015 296 0309.
Guest Speaker will be Dr. MA Coccia-Portugal, a Principal Investigator in Several International Breast cancer Clinical Trials, who has since 1979 visited countries like Europe and the USA to keep pace with developments in cancer treatments.
Her interest in Breast cancer compelled her to attend the “1st European Breast cancer Conference” in Florence in September 1998. Since then she has attended more than 30 International Breast cancer Conferences.
Dr Portugal knows the importance of keeping the public updated with the advances in the Knowledge and Management of this disease. That's why she took the first step in bringing this knowledge of the “world” to S.A. when she helped organize a Symposium on “The Current Management of Breast cancer”, by the European School of Oncology. Held in Sandton in 2002, this was the first time that this School came to Africa.
Recently Dr. MA Coccia-Portugal was invited to present an abstract at the 4th Global Breast cancer Conference in South-Korea in 2013.
You will not only have the opportunity to listen to Dr. Portugal’s knowledge but also be able to ask questions & interact with her afterwards.
When Breast cancer is found early, the chance of successful treatment is best. In fact, many women are even cured of the disease with early detection.
On Saturday 3 October, we had two weddings at Bolivia Lodge. This wedding was hosted in our Lepahlala Venue which tends to be very popular in summer and is ideal for a chapel service that seats up to 100 guests.
We managed to get the bridal entourage to give us a smile just before their service.
One of our clients getting Ivory Route hall set up for their Gala Dinner for 500 people. Love the colour scheme!
Bolivia Lodge recently hosted two Cancer support events. The first was part of the "I can fight" initiative which was a one day event going into the latest treatments and research into breast cancer. All the ladies attending had a full day of fun, with special make-up sessions and learning how to use natural ingredients in day-to-day life.
Special thanks to Louise Jansen and Carlene van Vuuren for making this such a special day, and thank you Louise for the warm review on Facebook - see image below!

On 9 September Bolivia Lodge hosted the University of Pretoria's Graduation ceremony for nearly one thousand people. We were not able to capture moments during the event (requested by the client).
At this years' Valentines Dinner Dance, we did something very different. We arranged an DJ and got them to play hits from to 50's to the 2000's. But not just the music, we had a big screen and played music video's as well. It was quite interesting seeing some of the older fashions and hairstyles of yesteryear!
A big thank you to those that sponsored prizes and subsidized part of the event. All proceeds went to a young lady that has a battle with cancer, but at the same time, she provides assistance and support to others facing similar battles.
Of course our banqueting staff played a big role, by draping the entire Baobab Hall, and then the kitchen staff pulled out all the stops to ensure that guests were treated to some of our best culinary delights too!
Thank you to Shirley Mitchell for the Photobooth!
Bolivia Lodge were once again involved with the Association for People with Disabilities (APD) in Limpopo, in the Wheelchair Wednesday initiative, where businesses can make a difference and children with disabilities then receive a wheelchair. Below is a photo taken at the hand over event.
